I just attempted to install the Linux host beta in Bazzite Linux and ran into an error:

Anyone know if there's a way I can fix this and move forward?
Hi M P,

Since Bazzite uses an immutable (rpm-ostree) system, installing the Host via RPM can cause version conflicts.

Please try installing the Host from the binary archive instead:

1. Download the archive:
https://www.remoteutilities.com/download/host1.0.23.b23.tar.xz

2. Extract it and run the installer as root:

tar -xf host1.0.23.b23.tar.xz
cd host1.0.23.b23
sudo ./host -install
Let us know if you run into any issues.

No luck:

M@bazzite:/var/home/M/Downloads$ tar -xf host1.0.23.b23.tar.xz
M@bazzite:/var/home/M/Downloads$ cd host1.0.23.b23
bash: cd: host1.0.23.b23: No such file or directory
The contents of host1.0.23.b23.tar.xz is just an executable named r-host.  If I try to run it as if I've cded into the folder specified, it fails:

M@bazzite:/var/home/M/Downloads$ sudo ./r-host -install
[sudo] password for M:
Error copying executable: filesystem error: cannot copy file: Read-only file system [/var/home/M/Downloads/r-host] [/usr/bin/r-host]
Failed to install daemon.
Just a note for Ubuntu users. Ubuntu 25.1 uses WAYLAND as the DEFAULT windowing system. If you haven't installed an alternative then disabling Wayland in /etc/gdm3/custom.conf will do nothing. you need to install an alternate like KDM Plasma or something else that will allow you to then switch from Wayland-based.

I'm running Zorin and audio capture is not working in Remote Utilities.  No sound comes through at all.

The steps I'm taking are:
1) Connect from a Windows 11 machine running Remote Utilities Viewer 7.7.3.0 to my Zorin desktop running Remote Utilities Host 1.0.23.q via Full Control
2) Once connected, go to Connection Properties -> check off Capture Sound -> click Apply
3) Raise the volume under Capture Sound to maximum -> click Apply
4) Play a wav file in the remote session and hear no audio
5) Watch a Youtube video in the remote session and hear no audio
6) Stop the host on the Zorin machine and start it again, repeat steps 1-5, no change
7) Reboot the Zorin machine and start the host, repeat steps 1-5, no change
Hello everyone,

We've updated the macOS and Linux versions to beta 24. A final release will follow soon once we implement the file manager (File Transfer mode), which is our current top priority.
I'm running the latest viewer on Windows 11 connecting to MacOS on a laptop with host 1.0.23.q and with 1 external monitor but can not switch monitors / view the external monitor - can only view the laptop itself.
Also, does the simple update method work for the apple client?

With a similar configuration connected to Mac Studio I've found that if the screen goes to sleep on the Mac I connect just fine but the Mac screen does not wake up.
Hello Asaf,

Thank you for your message.

Unfortunately, for version 1.0.23 you would have to update your Remote Utilities manually.
As for the monitors issue - please try updating your Viewer to the latest version 1.0.24 and see if the issue persists when using the updated version.

Let us know if this helps.
Hi Jim,

Thank you for your message.

Could you please let us know your exact version of MacOS so we can try and reproduce the issue? In addition, please confirm whether you’re using the latest version 1.0.24.

Looking forward to your reply.
