Change client from AGENT to HOST?

Hello Greg,

Thank you for your message.

Could you please clarify if you have considered using the MSI configurator tool in order to help switching your clients from Agent to the Host? This way, you can configure a One-Click package that will allow you to build a self-extracting Host installer with your custom settings. A remote user will only need to run the file in order to install the Host on their computer and switch from using Agent to Host.

Hope that helps.

no keyboard shows to enter password on iOS

Hello,

Thank you for your message.

Could you please clarify if I'm right in assuming that the issue with no password input filed being available occurs on all of the devices you've listed above, i.e. iPhone, iPad, Android phone and Windows PC?
If this is the case, please let me know if you're getting any other errors when trying to connect to a remote Host machine or is it just a greyed-out password input filed? In addition, please let me know if you have your password saved on any of the devices where the issue occurs?

I took the iPad to the remote computer network and now it connects perfectly, asking for keyboard entry etc and connected, so actually my problem is to connect over the internet.

Could you please confirm that the issue does not occur for the devices listed above when connecting to the Host using the direct connection and only occurs using the Internet-ID connection method? If this is the case, please try referring to this troubleshooting guide and see if any of the solutions listed there help to resolve the issue.

Looking forward to your reply.

Hello Peter,

Thank you for your message.

Is there any possibility of just getting a list from the "idle" tab on an RU server when logged into the viewer, and then directly connect to them using the username/password I'm already logged in as on the RU server?

Unfortunately, there is no such feature yet. The idle tab of the RU Server admin console just indicates the Hosts that are currently listening to the server and are ready for connection. However, if your server works as both - a sync server and a relay server, you can set it up to automatically add Hosts to a designated folder in your address book once the Hosts reveal themselves to the server (i.e. connect to the server the first time once you have specified the custom server's address in the Host's settings). This way, you can create a folder in your address book and name it accordingly, for example, Inbox, so when a Host connects to your Server, the information about this Host including its Internet-ID code will be added to the Inbox folder in your address book.  You can also add prefixes to the connection names. For more information, please refer to this tutorial on setting up auto import.

Also, as others has requested, getting rid of the "password" box in the agent when using "custom server security" would look a lot better.

We already have this feature in our wishlist and we will implement it in our future updates. Thank you for your suggestion.

Lastly, enable locale on the "Run on reboot" checkbox in the agent.

Could you please clarify if you mean the Run after reboot checkbox in the Agent window? If this is the case, this feature is already available at the lower part of the Agent window. If you mean something else, could you please elaborate a bit more on this?

Hope that helps.

Hello Jay,

Thank you for your input.

there's something messed up with the german carrier returns

This is a known issue caused by a typo in the localization file for the German language. We will implement a fix for it in the next update. I apologize for the inconvenience.

Could you please let me know if I'm understanding everything correctly - the issue occurs when you are logged on to the RU Server in the right upper corner of the main Viewer window, so it's not possible to establish a connection to a remote Host which did not use your custom server as its' relay server? Could you please also clarify if it was possible to connect to the Host machines that were using the self-hosted server as their relay server?
In addition, please let me know what roles did you use the RU Server in, i.e. Adress book sync, Relay Server or Authorization?

Looking forward to your reply.

Hello Neil,

Thank you for your message.

Perhaps, the Host installation folder or the rutserv.exe file was somehow corrupted by some antivirus software. Please try cleaning up your installation by following this uninstallation guide and then install Host from scratch.

In addition, we highly recommend that you add the Host installation folder to the antivirus software exceptions list to avoid future problems that might be caused by antivirus software activity.

Please let us know if the issue persists.
