Hello Martin,

We are currently examining our recent public server updates to see if there was any code that could cause this.

I can definitely say that it's unlikely to be an issue with the clients' side (i.e. Viewers and Hosts). So no need to re-install your apps.

We will do our best to get to the root of the problem as soon as possible. Thank you!

Hello Mark,

Thank you for your message. A few questions:

1. What is the version used at both ends? That is Viewer and Host.

2. What is the connection type in use? Is it direct (e.g. LAN) or Internet-ID?

mac viewer?

finding computers in address book prior to remote installation

Hello Wayne,

Thank you for your post.

To "push" the software onto a remote computer where it hasn't been installed previously some conditions must be met:

- It must be directly accessible to you via an IP address or hostname.
- Admin share (admin$) must be enabled on the remote PC
- You must have local administrator rights on the remote PC to be able to push-install the Host

See Connection Type section on this page.

haven't had a chance to do a remote install yet, but I may have found the answer to my own question. I'm thinking that I just need to click the "Add connection" button and add a connection using the IP address and then I'll have a connection on which I can perform a remote install.

Yes, you need to create a placeholder - an record in your address book on which to perform your action.

This might be just a semantic issue

Another word or rather expression could be a "saved session".

...I also found a "Scan for RU hosts" that let's you add computers to the list even if RU isn't yet installed, so that helps...

Yes, the scanner also shows where you already have the Hosts installed and where you haven't.

Thanks.

Hi Justin,

Just noticed you also opened a support ticket on this issue. Let's keep within the ticket then to avoid duplicating here on the forum.

Thanks.

Hello Justin,

Looks like the issue on the Hosts side then. Could you please send us the Host log files to support@remote-utilities.com. Here is about Host logs https://www.remoteutilities.com/support/docs/host-log/
