Host showing as offline even though the host computer is running
Alain, please note that we've responded to your message in another thread to avoid duplication.
Peter and Dept IT, could you please let us know if you're still experiencing the issue? We've received some similar reports and have restarted our severs just in case (even though there was no recent downtimes), so in most cases the access to the remote Hosts is now working.
Thank you for letting us know. We will definitely report this as a False Positive, so, hopefully, this entry will be removed soon.Same IP is listed on this website: https://threatfox.abuse.ch/ioc/259582/
May be a listing that needs to be disputed, @remoteutilities?
As for the firewall block - please try adding the DNS name id.remoteutilities.com to the exceptions/allow list, so that the access to our intermediary servers is not blocked.
Please let us know if you have more questions.
Remote Server access gone
Thank you for the clarification.
In this case, could you please send us the latest Host log files for examination (i.e. one of the Hosts that you connect to via your custom RU Server)? You can locate them in the following folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\Remote Utilities - Host\Logs\.
You can send the log files to support@remoteutilities.com or create a ticket in the Ticket System and attach the logs to the ticket.
Looking forward to your reply.
Remote Server access gone
Thank you for your message.
Could you please clarify if your RU Server is updated to the latest version 3.1 as well? In case if it's not updated to the latest version yet please try updating it as well, so that your Host, Viewer and RU Server versions all match since some new additions were implemented to the RU Server in the latest update as well.
The latest version of RU Server 3.1 is available for download on this page.
Please let us know if the issue persists after updating RU Server as well.
You computer has been connected in a remote session...
Thank you for your message.
This connection alert is persistent and cannot be removed. The notification was added for security reasons and is shown for all trial and free license users. Sorry if this makes our software less useful for you.How do I remove it since it is a legitimate connection ? This message assumes unauthorized access.
Thank you for the feedback. We'll make sure to correct this typo as soon as possible.By the way the grammar is wrong as well ... it should be " Your computer..." not "You computer..."
Please let us know if you have other questions.
Slow connection on LAN, but faast via internet
Thank you for the clarification.
Could you please send us the Host log files for examination? You can locate the logs in the following folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\Remote Utilities - Host\Logs\.
Please send the log files to support@remoteutilities.com and do not publish them on the forum as they might contain personal information.
Looking forward to your reply.
Does Remote Utilities make use of the exploitable Log4j code?
Thank you for your message.
I've checked on this with our development department and they have confirmed that all Remote Utilities modules are safe and are not affected by the Log4j vulnerability since Remote Utilities does not use the affected library.
Please let us know if you have more questions.
Two factor authentication option Internet only
Thank you for your message.
Unfortunately, currently it's not possible to enable the 2-factor authentication feature only for one type of connection, i.e. if it's enabled then you have to use 2FA every time you connect to a remote Host regardless of the connection type. However, I'll forward this to our development department for a review to see if we can implement this feature in our future updates.
Sorry if this makes our software less useful for you.
Please let us know if you have other questions.
Slow connection on LAN, but faast via internet
Thank you for your message.
Could you please clarify if you mean that when you use Direct connection the connection speed and performance are slower than when you connect to the same Host via the Internet-ID connection?
If this is the case please try referring to this KB troubleshooting page and see if any of the solutions listed there help to improve the connection speed when using Direct connection.
Hope that helps.
When host was last online; Email notification when host is back online
Thank you for your message.
Unfortunately, Remote Utilities does not support the "last online" feature yet. However, we already have it on our roadmap, so it will be definitely implemented in our future updates. Unfortunately, we can't provide any specific ETA on this yet.1. How can I check when the host was last online - so I know if this was 10 min ago or 10hrs ago?
Unfortunately, Remote Utilities does not support an email notification feature. However, you can enable the Notify me when connection is online option in the Viewer Options -> View tab if you're not using it yet. This feature will send a desktop notification when connection appears online.2. Can I get an email notification when the host is ready to connect to?
Unfortunately, sound is not supported within the existing "Notify me when connection is online" feature. I will forward this to our development department for a review to see if we can add the sound support in our future support. Sorry for the inconvenience. Can I at least get a loud Audio notification when the host is ready to connect
Please let us know if you have other questions.
Some viewers see some connections on-line others off-line.
Thank you for the clarification.
Thank you for sharing your input with us. There shouldn't be any difference when installing Remote Utilities using the "run as admin" feature or without it. We also haven't had any reports from other users regarding such scenarios. Even though installing Viewer and Host already requires user to have admin privileges (users without admin privileges can only run Agent), we'll still test it out in our environment and I will forward this to our developers as well to see if they can provide any input on this. I'll get back to you if there are any updates on this.I was trying to ask about whether there were problems with the systems
operation if the software was not installed with "run as admin", I meant general operability, not the throughput
performance.
Please let us know if you have other questions.
