Restarting windows and reconnecting
There is auto-logon feature but it means a slightly different thing than restoring an active session. This page explains what logon and auto-logon is in Remote Utilities:Chris Robertson wrote:
I have worked out that the host program will let you know that the computer is started, but the program will not log the computer back in by itself. For Now I will have to get the computer's password and use the auto-logon utility I have.

The auto-logon checkbox is located in Connection Properties for a given connection. This feature only works for direct connection (e.g. on a LAN) but not for Internet ID connection yet.
Restarting windows and reconnecting
Currently, there is no such feature. That is - automatically opening the same connection mode that you had open before restarting the remote PC.
I will add your suggestion to our wish list and we'll possibly implement it in the future.

Thank you for your message.
Are you asking if Remote Utilities is capable of automatically restoring your remote session after the remote PC has been restarted?

Thank you for your message.
Could you please try the solution in this KB article: Access violation error in Viewer module Let's see if it helps.
Internet ID/GMS - Can't connect internally
Thank you for your message.
The Internet ID is generated by the Host itself, not the GMS. The GMS is only an intermediary that uses the IDs supplied by Hosts. The IDs are unique and there is very little chance that on the same ID server, especially if it's a local GMS server, there will be two identical IDs.
Strictly speaking, when you use the Internet ID connection and both computers - Viewer and Host - are on the same network, the program automatically detects "direct availability" of the Host and tries direct connection instead of the Internet ID connection.
However, the pre-requisite for direct connection is that incoming port 5650 on the Host should be open, i.e. allowed in whatever firewall software is installed on the Test PC. It's the default value, you can change the port in the Host settings (Settings for Host -> Options -> Network).
Hope that helps.
Chromebook
Thank you for your suggestion.
We'll definitely take a closer look at Chromebook support. Seems like Chromebooks are getting quite popular :)
RU 5.7
It's actually going to be version 6.0. There are a lot of improvements so we decided that it qualifies for a major version than just for another minor update.
Beta is coming this week if everything goes as planned.
Need a chatbox always available

I would like to have a chatbox which should always available in the side of the windows. Also, when i send any message through chatbox, then it must come at the top of every window in the host side.
Right now i have to manually make appear the chatbox window which remains present at the backside.
Thanks
Thank you for your suggestion. We have already implemented this feature and the update will be available very soon in the version 6.0. The beta is going to be released in a week or two.
So stay tuned!
Decommisioning Old PC's - Forgot to unregister RU client
You don't have to remove the record in your Viewers at all. Simply unregister the Host and you are done. Your Viewers will then treat that record as an expired trial and it will no longer add to your total license count.
Does this means that the pc has to deleted in all instances of the Viewer before it is freed in the license.
All is well that ends well :)
Ps. on the lighter side of things. Just struggle with connecting to a new install until I realised that in the Viewer the last digit of the Internet Id was missing. =(
mac viewer?
Thank you for the kind words. Very soon we'll release version 6.0 and then will immediately get down to implementing next priorities, Mac support among them.
