Install the host with internet restriction

when it tries to connect to the remote utilities website it prompts an error and the installation doesn’t finish correctly.

Internet connectivity (and hence the website being displayed or not displayed) has nothing to do with successful one-click installation. The Host installs anyway - you can check that for yourself by opening the Windows Start menu or (if you selected not to install Start menu icons) by looking at the process list for that computer.

Hope that helps. Let me  know if you need more assistance.

P.S. We'll soon replace opening the website with displaying a simple message window.

Install the host with internet restriction

Hello,

First of all, this software it’s great!! I’m impressed about speed and ease-of-use.

Thank you very much for the kind words.  8)

I just have a question: is it possible not to show the web page of remote utilities after installation? I’m trying to install the host on my pc at work, but because of internet restriction when it tries to connect to the remote utilities website it prompts an error and the installation doesn’t finish correctly.

Are you installing from a custom built one-click installer (prepared in MSI Configurator)?

You do not want to overwrite the existing ID and password, correct?

If so, you need to check "Keep Internet ID" and "Keep access password" check boxes at the end of the configuration process:

Please, note that the first checks works only if you update Host 5.5 and higher. If your Host is an older version than that, the Internet ID will be overwritten. In this case you need to choose keep existing remote Host settings.

Hope that helps.

Hello,

I have moved your topic to a new thread. Please, always create a new thread if you question is not related to any of existing threads, instead of attaching it to a random thread.

it is possible to create an executable that go through the machine id and password to the host already installed?

Could you please clarify what you mean by "go through machine id and password"?

Thanks.

Hello,

I have moved your message to a separate thread. Please, reply here.

Could you please clarify, do you mean saving message history in the Text chat mode?

connection mode is disabled in security settings on the host side

Hello,

Thank you for your message. Your post has been moved to a new thread.

Regarding the error, you need to make sure that the selected connection mode is allowed on the Host side. In order to do this, right click on the Host icon in the system tray, select Settings for Host -> Security -> Modes tab and make sure that the mode you want to use is UNchecked.

Search in registry

Thanks for the suggestion, Yahdar. We'll put in on our wishlist.

Hello Michael,

It's a good idea and I'll add it to our wishlist.

Host connectivity issues

Hello Mario,

Direct connection is always a better choice because no mediation occurs and (in theory) the perceived speed and responsiveness should be better.

However, the Internet ID connection should work anyway except only rare occasions where the network environment on the Host side is extremely strict. Please, note that even with the Internet ID connection the Host should be able to communicate with our mediation servers on the Internet, that is - establish an outgoing connection at certain port. Oftentimes, especially in corporate environments, all outgoing ports are blocked except those used commonly, such as port 80 and 443.

I'm more than sure that if you set up your own mediation server, set it up to use port 443 and then point the Host in question at that mediation server and port - everything will work.

I might be mistaken however in that it's a port issue and not something else, in which case it's recommended to check this Knowledge Base article that might help to troubleshoot the issue.
