Great! Seems like some "link in the chain" required rebooting for applying the settings.Bobby Mills wrote:
Ok. Rebooted my router and all PC's and made sure my custom servers were set to DNS and uncheck IPv6 and connection WORKED! I dont know what is blocking it or was blocking it. It works now.
Anyway, if you ever need help with this issue, don't hesitate to post on the forum or submit a support ticket. Thanks!

GMS is always about Internet ID connection. It's just a self-hosted replacement for our hosted Internet ID servers, and is entirely optional.Bobby Mills wrote:
Yes. The gateway reads my Moms PC over another IP connection. So it connect the GMS under IDLE tab. Do i still use the Internet ID or direct connection..?
Direct connection by definition does not use any intermediary servers. It's a plain Viewer -> Host connection where the IP address (or DNS name) of the Host is used. Whereas an Internet ID connection always looks like this:
Viewer -> Default (our company's) intermediary server -> Host
or
Viewer -> Your self-hosted GMS -> Host

This needs to be clarified. In the Host settings a custom GMS server is a global setting. Whereas in the Viewer you need to specify it for each remote connection that you want to route via your GMS. You can, of course, mass-edit them by selecting multiple records or use Default Connection properties for newly created connections.
Have you changed the custom server IP address to the DNS name on both sides, i.e. Viewer and Host?

Perhaps, you just need to use a service like no-ip.com. It's free from what I know. Generally, here's what you need to do:
1. Register with no-ip.com and create your own DNS name.
2. Install the No-ip client program on your GMS computer so that it regularly updates your DNS record with new IP address when it changes.
3. IMPORTANT: use your DNS name in the Host and Viewer settings for the custom Internet ID server (replace the IP address with your DNS name).
With this trick you won't have to change Viewer or Host settings each time your GMS IP address changes.
Hope that helps.

Here's where the Internet ID is stored in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Remote Utilities\v4\Server\Parameters\InternetID
It is an XML file in UTF-16 encoding.
Let me know if you need further assistance.

Thank you for the kind words!
If the option "Generate ID and send it via e-mail" is enabled, then the warning message is shown. This is a necessary security precaution against using Remote Utilities without the remote person knowing they are being controlled/watched." I was wondering if there is any possible way to disable the final popup that states "Software installed... sending e-mail... confirm?" Another words, I'd like the installer to be COMPLETELY silent. Is this possible?
However, if you do not use that option, the warning message is not shown. But you will need to generate and note down the Internet ID of the remote computer manually or with the help of someone at the remote side.
If what you need is spontaneous/ad hoc support rather than 24/7 unattended access to a remote PC, perhaps the Agent module will be more suitable. You can configure the Agent in the MSI Configurator too.
I'm not sure if the Internet ID is stored in the registry explicitly. Nevertheless, I will ask our developers and get back to you soon.Is there any way to read the internet ID and send this along with the other data? I found the registry keys so I could probably do that. I guess I need to disable the e-mail feature though, but still generate the Internet ID. Is this possible?
