session logs

Hello Claudiu,

You can find the Host log in the C:\Program Files\Remote Utilities - Host\Logs folder. Currently the log contains basic information like from where a connection was initiated (IP address) and what connection mode was used as well as information about errors if any.

We are planning to make the log more informative in future versions though.

Combofix issues

Still no response from the Combobox developer. Apparently, they ignore other vendor's concerns.

mac viewer?

Hello Ron,

We are planning to implement Viewer for Mac in 2015, but currently no ETA can be given.

Thanks!

Combofix issues

Hello Roger,

We have sent a false positive report to Combofix, although finding the actual contact information of the developer was a bit tricky. All we could find was combofixorg@yahoo.com email address but the site www.combofix.org says that the developer "didn't make" the site (perhaps, he/she is not the owner of the site). Incidentally, you might want to try to send them an email too.

Hopefully, we'll receive a response from the developer or at least more information about the developer and how to contact them.

Alpha blending and Blank user screen

Hi Bobby,

Not yet. But perhaps it will be possible when we re-write the blank remote screen feature in the next update (i.e. 6.1 or 6.2).

Host works fine at first but later becomes unreachable

Hello,

Perhaps, the hard drive goes to sleep. Please, check your power settings in the Windows Control Panel on the remote machine.

RU and win 2012 - always offline

Hi Salam,

Merry Xmass Conrad. 1st, I dont have RU log in
C:\Program Files\Remote Utilities - Host\Logs as indicated,
it is in
C:\Program Files (x86)\Remote Utilities - Host\Logs

so is there any possible issue of setting up the right version on this machine?

No, it's ok. On 32-bit machines the Host installs itself to the Program Files folder, whereas on 64-bit machines it installs into Program Files (x86).

Now, I opened the most recent log file (I can share it with you), I found mainly
error 96,
Internet-ID: Unable to connect to ID server.
Address: server.rutils.com; Port: 563; Connect timed out.(EIdConnectTimeout)

This is just a fact that confirms the obvious - the Host cannot connect to the remote Host. The connection is blocked by something.

I did, from the VM and the HYper-V host a
telnet server.rutils.com 563
and it works fine with absolutly no problem of connections.

It's not the only port used for ID connection via the default server. See this article for the full list of ports: https://www.remoteutilities.com/support/docs/ports-used-by-remote-utilities/

As I said earlier, this proves that it has nothing to do with my network or firewall, I am more than sure that it is related to Win 2K12 R2 and RU incompatibilite or missing config somewhere

If it had been incompatible with Win2K12, thousands of our corporate users would've notified us about it :)

LAN Server Creation: Something I cannot figure out...

Ronnie,

I understand. But Remote Utilities is just a tool for actually viewing/controlling remote PCs via its own remote desktop protocol. There are no VPN capabilities built into Remote Utilities. It's a different kind of software.

However boring it might sound, you might want to try VPN-based solutions like Hamachi or Pertino for that  :)

Alt+Tab and Windows+Tab to local PC?

Hello John,

Sorry, but currently there's no option to arbitrarily change Alt + Tab behavior. That is, being able to press a modifier key that would make it "local" rather than "remote" on-the-fly.

However, this makes a good feature suggestion. Let me move this topic to our "Feature suggestions" forum and also add it to our wish list. Our developers will take a look at it and see if it can be implemented.

Thanks.

RU and win 2012 - always offline

Hello Salam,

The Host log is available here C:\Program Files\Remote Utilities - Host\Logs . If the ID communication link with the server is established successfully, you should see something like this:

Code 96
Internet-ID: Connection established

Just scroll down to the end of the log, since the older records are at the top :) But there's also a date/time column.
