Thanks. I found that.

That tells me the IP address. But nothing else about the "local" user (agent/technician/viewer user)?

I suppose I can check all our IPs and see if it matches. But the IP can change if a laptop is on a different network, eg, in a different location, eg traveling.

So my system tray / notification area icon for Remote Utilities host is red. On this PC there's a banner in the lower right over the notification areas saying someone is logged in (altho this notification banner is off by default in a paid account). It's not me that's logged in or anyone else that has access--I checked. It could be an orphaned session. It could be an attack, I suppose.

I looked around, I can't find any way to identify the user that has logged into this PC remotely.

To clarify, I'm looking at a host PC or with the agent running, and am trying to figure out who is running the Viewer to connect to it.

I searched in this forum but couldnt find a post on it. Perhaps I could not figure out the right search keywords.

followup remote computer popup image preview view aka Advanced Hint Window

Support level: Starter
I posted here: https://www.remoteutilities.com/support/forums/forum1/2615-resolved_-remote-computer-popup-thumbnail-view

And I suppose there's still now way, but there's a workaround.

1. mouse over the thumbnail.
2. move mouse quickly to move *over* the advanced hint window image (if you move too slow you'll just move the advanced hint window around)
3. click the 'pin' icon in the upper right.
4. now you can resize the pinned advanced hint window image.
5. refresh image.

Not a bad workaround in a pinch.

[Resolved] remote computer popup thumbnail view

Support level: Starter
when I hover over a remote connection in the viewer a popup appears with a thumbnail of the remote screen and a refresh image link and an actions menu.

Is there a way to change the size of this thumbnail preview?

I know I can change the size of the thumbnail previews that lists all of them in the main window with the preview slider in the view menu. I'm not asking about that.

I'm asking about the mouse-over popup.

Still (*S*till) the Mac Viewer is very usable and I'm getting a lot of work done with it. Still. Typo. I like the product. I can't see how to edit my previous post (firefox on macbook ventura).

A couple other Shift modifier issues.

File - Open on windows brings up the file dialog box in many applications, eg, Notepad.

Within that dialog box, Tab moves you from input box to input box, whereas Shift+Tab moves your backwards through those same input boxes.

Tab works fine in Mac Viewer.

Shift+Tab however doesn't do anything that I can detect when using Mac Viewer logged into a Windows 10 host.

Similarly, Alt+Tab on Windows cycles through applications in the "Task Switcher" or "App Switcher".

Similarly, Shift+Alt+Tab is supposed to cycle through those apps backwards.

When using Mac Viewer on a Windows 10 host Opt+Tab does bring up the task switcher and cycle through apps. However Shift+Opt+Tab does nothing as far as I can tell.

Till the Mac Viewer is very usable and I'm getting a lot of work done with it.

It is working now. Don't know what I changed. If it recurs I will post again.

One more thing: my remote cursor is not rendering.

I have local cursor set to point.

And remote cursor set to always. However no matter what setting combination, the remote cursor is not rendering. I'm not sure yet if this is on every remote machine.

Another good thing: when my macbook goes to sleep, and I wake it up, Rut viewer automatically reconnects to the hosts I was connected to, prompting me for the password.

That's good!

It happened again. Typing 'o' performed a WIN+O.

This time hitting the Shift modifier key seemed to break out of the WIN modifier down mode.
