Tray icon disappeared

Hello Eunjin,

Thank you for your post.

It may look like antivirus software activity and/or Host program files got corrupted somehow. Yes, you need to re-install the program. Make sure that you completely uninstall first, as described here  https://www.remoteutilities.com/support/docs/installing-and-uninstalling/#uninstall-host

When installing, you can try our new beta release, or install the stable version.

Hello Bjørn,

No simple way I'm sorry. By the way, according to our inner changelog this bug has been fixed in the upcoming 6.5 beta, which is going to be put on the site today, if all goes as planned.

Hello Bjørn

Thank you for your post.

Yes, it's a known bug. We will do our best to fix it as soon as possible.

Error connecting started on 5/30, Address: server.rutils.com; Port: 563; Connect timed out.(EIdConnectTimeout)

Hi Mohd,

We are going to publish the beta on the site this Thursday or Friday the least.

Tray icons do not expand on viewer machine

Hello Lee,

You need to enable "Capture alpha blending windows" option in the connection properties. Please, follow the steps described on this page: https://www.remoteutilities.com/support/docs/some-windows-or-menus-are-not-visible/

That said, I also recommend you upgrade both modules to the most recent version which is 6.3.0.6 if you haven't done that already.

Don't hesitate to ask me if you have other questions.

Hello Mohd,

Thank you for your message.

Our servers are running with 100% uptime recently so it's definitely not the server's fault. The most obvious reason why your Host cannot connect is a firewall problem, namely blocked outgoing ports which are used by the Host.

You can find more information about the ports in this documentation article https://www.remoteutilities.com/support/docs/ports-used-by-remote-utilities/

NOTE: the article mentions version 6.5 which has not been released yet. The beta is coming this week though. In this new version the number of ports will be reduced - in fact you'll only have to have one outbound port open (5655) in addition to port 443.

Hope that helps.

Ctrl Keys sticking all the time, it's horrible

Hi Jack,

Thank you for the information, this is helpful. I will forward it to our testing and development to model and see if that might be the real reason behind this problem and what we can do about it.

Ctrl Keys sticking all the time, it's horrible

Hello Jack,

Thank you for your post.

This certainly happens on the Viewer side, Host has nothing to do with it. Actually, this is a very elusive bug and very rarely manifests itself. Perhaps now we have a chance to finally nail it down.

Do you remember if there are any actions that necessarily cause this bug to happen? In other words, is it possible to 100% reproduce it?

Icon Customizing With In Standard MSI Configuration

Hello Michael,

Thank you for your post.

You mean the Host icon in the system tray, correct?

 - Mon, 05 Feb 2018 14:26:02 GMT

If so, I'm afraid this cannot be possible. The icon is part of the program branding, besides it must be immediately recognizable due to security reasons and be associated with the program that runs behind it. No doubt antivirus software companies will frown upon this ability, should we start to provide it.

Let me know if you have other questions.
