We installed both Host and Viewer on a clean Windows 8 machine, and run CureIt! check. There was a "No threat" report.

Can you please update your CureIT virus definitions database (or download CureIT from Dr. Web site) and try to check again.

Anyway, as Dr.Web told us in response to our false positive report, this specific alert is not a virus or malware. It's "potentially dangerous software" (because it grants remote access). So getting this kind of alert from your antivirus software doesn't mean that your computer is infected.

Dr.Web recommended adding the program (be it Remote Utilities or other remote desktop software) to the exceptions list.

[resolved] Remote Execute in hidden mode does not work.

I installed a clean OS (windows 7 32 bit on both computers). I installed the host and viewer. Unfortunately still  execute program as hidden does not work, no matter what program  wants to run. Now I have no idea what is wrong. Has anyone had this problem?.

Give us the specific program names that you have tried. All of them.

What I need is to lock the screen while I'm not in front of my computer and viewer is not running.

Maybe some kind of scripts that I can execute remotely on Agent PC to unlock screen or maybe some third-party screen locker that can be used without admin rights.

I can't use Host because I don't have admin rights.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

The screensaver is running on a protected screen. You can't access the screensaver other than with SYSTEM rights. That's why you can't do that with the Agent. Unlike the Host, the Agent runs under a local user account, with limited rights.

In general, if you don't have administrative rights on the remote PC and some action (like  controlling a screensaver from afar) requires them, we can hardly do anything about it. It's not about Remote Utilities, this is how Windows works.

It won't work with Agent. You need to use Host in this case.

In the viewer program on my local computer I click on the icon execute.  In the window that opens, enter the path to the program on a remote computer, for example program files \ CCleaner \ Ccleaner.exe

I tick hidden option and click OK.

Then a window open to me, but on the remote computer while it should open on a local computer.

It does not matter what program I try to open, always is visible on remote PC.

You do everything right. The problem is that not every application supports "Run hidden" mode. For example, you can run Notepad in the hidden mode, and can't run Calculator in the hidden mode.

Hope that helps.

I use Windows 7 64bit on both ends.

There is no download, it is built in screen saver function with "On resume display logon screen" checked.

We couldn't reproduce this issue. Do you use the Host or the Agent on the remote PC?

Can you please elaborate. What program are you trying to run and what specific steps do you take in Remote Utilities to do that?

Post into this sub-forum if you have any issues with antivirus software or a firewall. Before you post please make sure that:

1. You have the latest version of Remote Utilities Viewer and Host installed. The latest version is always available on the download page.

2. You have updated virus definition databases and the antivirus software itself. Sometimes, when the virus definition databases are obsolete, Remote Utilities can still be detected as a potentially dangerous program. The update can resolve the problem.

If nothing of the above helps, then post your issue here. It is highly recommended that you also send a false positive report to the antivirus software manufacturer. In many cases this can make them fix the issue a lot faster.

Submit your software, you can issue

First, we have already submitted the false positive. The more people will report this issue to Dr.Web, the better. That's why we asked you to do that.

Second, if you don't like our software, you are free not to use it. But we will not tolerate impoliteness, or imperative and unfriendly language on our own forum. Users that show disrespect to us or to other forum members will be banned according to p.4 of the forum rules.

Thank you for understanding.
