Frustrated in limitations.

Support level: Free or trial
Thanks for the explanation. I am trying to make the process as simple as I can for the users I have to support. I guess in this situation once they have Agent Module running I could install the Host after I am connected to their computer and if need be uninstall it afterwards.

A couple of questions. Is there any way I can change the name that is showing up on their computer, whether their computer is using the Agent module or Host? Right now, it is showing the name of my computer on my network. I would like to have it say my name instead.

Your software requires one to logout to get the connection to close. Is there anyway on my end to have the connection to close when I close the viewer window instead?

Using viewer 7.7.3.0 viewer free and Host 7,7.3.0. I am looking at an idiot proof way of providing ondemand as well as unattended access. I currently have the free license.

I have two computers here that I was testing on. The viewer is Win11 24H2 and the Host is 25H2. I downloaded the Host just today and installed it.  For some reason when I click on the 25H2 computer in the viewer on the 24H2 computer I get Remote Registry! Why is this happening?

If I select Full Control I get connected but why can I not have this Full Control as default?

On some support sessions I am remoting into a standard user account (which would have the host installed) and may have to login to the administrator account on the system. It doesn't seem to be possible with Remote Utilities to do this. It appears the Host is only installed in the standard user account so if I log out of that account in Windows I sever the connection to the remote computer.

I need to be able to have the person who is usually not tech savy be able to download an executable and give me the login credentials over the phone to allow me to fix the problem at hand. This appears to be telling them to go to Remote Utilities website go to Download Select Windows and download the Agent.exe however in the above standard user situation this would cause the session to terminate if I needed to go into the Admin account. Even if they were tech savy enough to some how installed the Host exe that too would loose connection if I logout of the account to get into another account on the PC because even the Host install seems to be limited to only the one account.

Am I overlooking something here?

How can I update host's remotely?

No since I did not realize that there was yet another update a day after I had just updated the Viewer 2 days before.  I just thought the banner notice was regarding the updated viewer I had applied 2 days before.

I had 7.6.1.0 viewer. That was one version older than the current 7.6.2.0

I had a remote system that was using 7.2.2.0 and the viewer was at 7.6.1.0. I downloaded the host on the remote system and started the installation. It had to remove the older version but when it did I lost remote access to the system. How is one supposed to do a remote upgrade to systems?

Win11 host always showing off line

I found out what the problem was. I am trying out controld (www.controld.com) DNS service. I enabled their Malware filter in my account and it was blocking id72.remoteutilities.com and server.remoteutilities.com. It like other DNS services never tells the user it has blocked something. I discovered what the issue was and put in a rule to all those lookups to complete.

Have a Win10 host on free account that for some reason is always showing off live in my address book. Stopped and restarted the host without any effect.

There is no Automatic Login setting  under security tab but under Authentication there is and it is unchecked.
If reboot a remote computer via RU Power menu then once the remote computer reboots up to the login screen, it takes RU an additional 40 seconds for the Viewer to show the same login. I guess that additonal delay is not bad.

If I power off a computer via the remote's Start Menu power off option then it takes Remote Utilities 3:35 to update the remote computer's status to Offiline in the viewer.

Appreciate everyone replying to these questions. Just evaluating RU for my usage before purchasing a license. Also working around how in RU I can do the same thing as prior remote access software I have been using. They allow the remote user to get a connection going so that I can install their equivalent of RU Host application.  With RU that is two different applications where as with the other software its one application that remote person has to be stepped through.

The screen I am referring to is the remote's desktop screen which if the remote computer is rebooted via the Power menu turns to B&W. When the computer reboots then pressing Refresh Status does not make this screen reflect the true status of the computer any faster. It still stays B&W for a minute.

I also noticed that if this computer is remotely powered off the Viewer will show the status of the computer as being Logged Into even though that computer has been powered off for minutes.

Both the Host and the Viewer were downloaded from your website. all of these computers were connected via a wired connection to a 1GB switch back to my router. All of them were using the Internet ID since I am testing the software if it meets my needs to provide support to people elsewhere.
