Hi Conrad,

I have just found your site because someone in a thread on a different forum linked to your site in a discussion we were having about software to control pc`s locally.

I am looking for a program where i can locally support my workbench pc`s from 1 PC. We run a repair shop and have multiple pc`s/notebooks coming in and out every day. I want to be able to control all these pc`s from my workstation with a program that has a Thumbnail View of all connected pc`s so i can see which pc needs attention. Your program does look the most promising in pricing and current features but i have a question about connecting the pc`s.

Is it possible to have 1 silent/unattended .exe/.msi file that i can start and that it connects to the RUT Viewer without setting up/creating ID`s at the Viewer PC ? And is it also possible to uninstall it quickly with 1 command or shortcut (my current VNC based solution has a "Stop Support" button which uninstalls all the services and removes the application). And would this be allowed license wise as long as we not have more than 10 pc`s here ?

Thanks for creating this and offering such tools for free even for businesses. Great work.

Hello,

Is it possible to have 1 silent/unattended .exe/.msi file that i can start

Yes, you can configure/prepare a Host installer for one-click silent installation on a remote PC. Just follow this tutorial https://www.remoteutilities.com/support/docs/one-click-package/  .Be advised though, that you might want to choose (or not choose) other options than specified in the tutorial, as it is for guidance/example only.

It is the Viewer (admin module) that connects to the Host (remote module). If you repair a PC or laptop which later leaves your shop and ends up somewhere "in the cloud", then the Internet ID is the only option. It's unlikely that you'll be able to connect by an IP address - the computer might be behind a router, or even traveling and constantly changing access points, like in an airport, internet cafe etc.

You can install the Host on the PC before you hand it over to the owner, configure the settings, manually enable and grab/copy the Internet ID. Then create a new connection in your Viewer. So whenever the customer' PC has access to the Internet, you will have access to their PC.

You can speed up the installation process by configuring a one click installer as shown in the abovementioned tutorial. Namely, you can embed your license key so that you don't have to register the Host after the installation. As for Internet ID, you can select "Generate ID and send it via email" feature, but in my view a simpler and more "bulletproof" approach would be to generate and copy the ID when the computer is still at your shop. The simpler the process, the more reliable it is.

And is it also possible to uninstall it quickly with 1 command or shortcut (my current VNC based solution has a "Stop Support" button which uninstalls all the services and removes the application)

To remotely uninstall the Host, first select the remote PC you want to uninstall the Host on, navigate to Viewer -> Tools tab
and click "Remote Install". This is a small utility that allows you to remotely install/uninstall/upgrade Hosts.

And would this be allowed license wise as long as we not have more than 10 pc`s here ?

Everything available for the commercial license is also available for the free one. The only limitation is 10 remote PCs.

Thanks for the fast reply.

When the system goes back to the customer after repair RUT needs to be removed. It is solely to control is locally from my PC during the repair.
Does the Viewer get notified or automatically see the newly created PC if I run the one click created installer? I will look into this.

This makes things easier. You only need to install the Host, set access password and know the local IP address of the remote PC to be able to connect to it.

No. There is no central "server" to facilitate such notifications. You simply install the Host module on the remote PC and then create a new connection in the Viewer where you specify the IP address (or Internet ID if you use it) of the remote Host.
