Beta testing: Remote Utilities for macOS/Linux

Support level: Free or trial
I just tried to connect to the Linux Agent since updating. My Windows 11 machine using RU Viewer 7.2.2.0 sees the Linux machine (Zorin 16.3) as Online and tries to Authenticate, but says Access denied. I've confirmed the password on both viewer and agent. Both machines were restarted as were, of course, the respective RU apps.

Hi Conrad,

Thanks, I'm glad you were able to reproduce and correct it. It worked for me as you described as well.

When accessing my Linux machine (HP ProX2 612 G1 running Zorin 16.3) my number keypad on the Windows machine is not recognized except in the calculator on Linux. In ever other place I've tested, regardless of Num Lock on or off, the number keypad results in cursor movement.

Just discovered screen resizing is not working remotely either. Maximize, minimize, full screen/window all work, just no handles to resize.

Thanks!

Actually posting this using the Linux Agent from my Windows laptop. Seems to work great! Excited to see progress in the Linux/Mac space.

One issue I've found is when connecting using Android. No mouse pointer is visible on the Android device. The mouse moves on the Linux box and the responses ARE seen on on Android.

I discovered today that the number keypad on my Windows machine's wireless keyboard is not recognized on the Linux remote host.

Thanks!

Unlike Oldřich, I'm successful in scrolling with a roller ball and mouse scroll wheel. Touchpad scroll is lacking.

When accessing from an android phone or tablet the mouse is not visible remotely. Not sure if it's the viewer or Linux host
Left running overnight several days. Connection remained available and accessible. Very stable.
While it may be the fact that it's a local connection, it's very quick and responsive.
An issue I'm  sure will be addressed in a later release is the need to restart the host manually after restarting the Linux machine.

All in all a great start. Looking forward to further releases and will post any issues that may be encountered.

Thanks

Kudos! Using this right now. Initial install was flawless, setup was a breeze, and function seems solid. Looking forward to beta and eventual final release. Will tinker with it  and report any issues.

I was wondering if there is any update on the Host for Linux?

Conrad,

Not to put too sharp a point on it, but it's a year and a half later and still no update...

Conrad,

In my situation, the addresses stay in my phone (Samsung S5) but disappear in my tablets (formerly a Galaxy Tab 2, now a Galaxy Tab A). Not sure if this will help, but thought it might be relevant.

Despite my frustration with this ongoing malfunction, I still appreciate your product, its availability for no cost and your responsiveness.
