Been pretty happy with the software and upgraded twice to support you guys!
Issue 1: Multi-monitors drop-down selection stops working after the computer wakes from sleep. In viewer, when I connect to my host PC (memphis), I don't get the option for the dual monitors. However, if I reboot the computer and connect again, the dual monitors appear. I have tried Legacy mode. No difference. This has bugged me ever since I have purchased RemoteUtilities. I have to have Full screen stretch with just on monitor at a time!! Issue 2: On the same PC, the Windows tray icon goes away shortly after launching or restarting the service. Something it lasts and the icon stay open for a long period. Mostly, immediately hovering over the icon in the Windows system tray...the icon just disappears. The only way to fix it is to either restart the PC or restart the service. I have 11 computers in Viewer, and only this PC appears to do this (memphis). I can still connect to this Host PC after the icon disappears, so the service is still running.
I checked on of the host logs and didn't see anything obvious.
Specs: RU Viewer & Host are 18.104.22.168, Server 22.214.171.124 Windows 10 Pro x64 Intel i7 9770k, 32GB Ram Geforce RTX 3070 video card. Driver 512.15 (Updating to latest version right now) Latest windows updates No anti-virus, Windows defender disabled Firewall disabled.
I don't believe you'd setup the client device as a normal proxy. HAProxy more or less takes an SNI request and routes it to the appropriate server, like a reverse proxy. I don't think HAProxy will work with RU suites of utilities. I was hoping someone might have a recipe to make this work, and well if no one does, then I doubt its possible.
I am wondering if anyone has successfully used and been able to remotely access RU through an HA Proxy. It's an reverse proxy that allows one or many devices/services/server to securely work without the need to open multiple ports in your firewall. It's working for Plex, HTTP/HTTPS Web Servers, NAS, Homebridge etc. I'm just curious if anyone has figured out if its even possible.
My 3 ways hopes are: -Being able to connect to RU Server Admin Console -Having Viewer connect to my Server for the address book -Being able to connect my Hosts
Right now I'm using Public ID over 443 but if this works...then I could switch to a direct connection over 443. pc1.domain.tld, pc2.domain.tld, ruserver.domain.tld
Could you please clarify if the issue persists when using the latest 126.96.36.199 (Beta 2) version of Remote Utilities as well? If this is the case, then could you please provide a few screenshots or, perhaps, even a short video of the issue (please use version 188.8.131.52 - you can use Agent and Portable Viewer of the latest version if you don't want to update your primary installation). You can send the video/screenshots to firstname.lastname@example.org .
Looking forward to your reply.
I upgraded all of my hosts and viewers to 6.12 Beta 2 and all is working. I tried sleeping my PC a couple of times and seems to still work. Plan on purchasing this very soon. Thanks for the quick reply and great support.
-Windows 10 2004 x64 -Dual Monitors 1080p, DVI using Geforce 970 -pfSense Firewall -Viewer & Host are 6.10 (tried 6.12) then went back to 6.10 -Restart the HOST service made no difference. -Only thing I came up with was rebooting the Viewer laptop & Host PC, then the selection for each individual monitor showed up. -I do have GoToAssist installed as well. -Only have one PC with multiple monitors -Using ID, public ID servers via 443 and RU Server for my address book
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Its impossible to use Remote Utilities without Full Screen Stretched on an individual monitor for an extended period of time.
Need some assistance on properly setting up Remote Utilities. I'm coming fr om GoToAssist / [censored] Rescue where no ports are needed to open up, but its the $$$. Just a weekend warrior with family & friends to support. I will purchase whatever license, either Starter and maybe eventually Pro
I have spent a lot of time playing around and reading the docs. I'm successful, but then something eventually doesn't work.
Currently: -Secure enterprise-grade firewall, Sophos UTM -Always on server, Server 2019 -Want / Need WOL - (I do an app that can wake them also, just got spoiled with GoToAssist) -8 Computers at home -2 of which can go anywhere and wh ere they end up, there may be a firewall blocking 5655 -Mobile App - which I understand will get better as time goes on...
Ideas I have tried so far:
No Self-hosted Server / Public ID server / Port 443 In my testing, this appears to connect the best and I don't need to open 443 in my firewall (used on a LAMP server). Only thing is I lose WOL.
My Server / RU Server / 443 and Internet ID. Can't have 443 going to to, two separate machines/VM's. However, if I had two WAN's...
My Server / RU Server / 5655 and Internet ID's. WOL does not work and if my two laptops go off my network, firewalls may block them connecting...
First idea I had was to create DNS entires and use Direct Connections for all of my computers. computer1.domain.com Worked great until I connected to a PC from outside the network. Internally worked perfect.
Another idea I thought, why can't we have both, Internet ID and Direct connect together? Internet ID for away from your network and then local for faster connections and WOL.
Would I just waste 6 Connections and cascade 1 Server (Direct Connect / Port Forwarded) and 5 WOL PC's?
Also a VPN too, but not a fan of that solution.
Is there a performance impact if I'm using a public Internet ID server and if connecting to machines that are on the same network? Do you think the developer would ever get WOL working through a public ID server, or just self-hosted ID server? Self-hosted is on there feature listed....
Like wow, a lot of thought went into this. Thanks everyone. I'll take any advice and suggestions.
