This is great!! Is there any way to add this information to your KB? This will be helpful as new versions are released.

Thank you so much :)

MSI GUIDs

Can you please post the MSI GUID for each of your products and versions? I'd like to automate or script the Host uninstall process. I think it would benefit the those of us that use this tool in the enterprise.

On another note, I tried to search the KB for the GUIDs and obviously couldn't find them, but I came across this very strange issue with the search function on your site. When I searched the KB for the term "msiexec" (without quotes), the search failed and said that I didn't enter any valid characters. The search box then showed "ьышучус". I obviously didn't search for non-English characters from the character map. Off the top of my head it looks like the data getting passed through the search box isn't getting sanitized properly. Anyway, I just figured I'd pass along the info so your web developers can take a look :)

Edit: Oh no... The last 4 or 5 posts to this forum look like bad news...

Improved Chat Functionality

It would be nice if the chat session (including history) didn't just disappear when the chat session is either closed by the remote user, or when there is a network failure that temporarily disconnects the Host fr om the Viewer. In instances such as these, I'd like to be able to retain the chat history on screen and be able to pick up wh ere I left off once the network communication resumes.

Additionally, as an admin I'm always using the keyboard. Having to stop and use the mouse to click the "Send" button is cumbersome. If the chat window uses Windows Forms, setting the "Send" button as the default element on the form would remedy this. To overcome the fact that you would not be able to enter multi-line chats, just have something like Shift+Enter create a new line in the active chat, while keeping Enter to send the chat message.

Just a few ideas....

Unfortunately no. The application just became unresponsive so I had to terminate the process.

Host is Locked?

One more thing - and I don't know if this should be in a topic by itself or not but...

I've the Auto-logon setting for all of my connections, but the only connections that seem to automatically logon to the host are the connections in the group that the Viewer goes to by default when I open the Viewer application. Any other connections in any other groups won't automatically logon.

For instance:
I have setup 2 groups, A and B. Auto-logon has been setup for all connections in both groups. I open the Viewer application and go into group A. If I then close the application and open it back up, all of the connections in group A will automatically logon to the host, but if I then navigate to group B none of the connections will automatically login. If I then close the application again (being inside group B) and open it again, the Viewer will start inside group B and all of those connections will automatically login. But again, none of the connections in group A will be logged on.

Edit: Conrad, maybe you can move this over to the feature requests. It looks like the Viewer will automatically logon to the hosts, but only after what looks to be a 30 second timeout. It would be helpful if the auto-logon process happened continually in the background or at least is initiated once the group is selected.

Host is Locked?

Understood. But I tried to logon using the Viewer several times and it won't do it. The host was deployed with password protected settings and a password to logon - so I doubt anything was changed by the user (or otherwise). Should I redeploy the host to that machine? Or is there something else that I'm missing?

I'm not sure what this means because I searched through the manual as best I could - but I have one remote host that always shows up in the Viewer as being "Locked". I'm not sure what this means, but the Viewer cannot connect to this particular host at all. What does this mean?

Blank/Locked Screen

Conrad,

Sorry it took me a while to respond. You are correct - the default white screen works. However, the HTML or Text Editor is what I'd like to use. When using either one of those, the thin white border and scroll bars are shown at the console of the remote host.

I'd like to add to this issue as well. When using the blank/lock screen, is there a way to turn off the local console from rendering the mouse pointer? It looks odd to see the mouse move around the screen on top of the chosen blank/lock screen. Additionally, when certain UI elements are chosen in the remote session (Windows Start menu, any combo box or list, and sometimes the minimize and maximize function), they will quickly flash on top of the blank/lock screen. This is also strange and will prevent me from using this feature only because I feel like it would generate additional calls from neighboring users that see this behavior and don't see someone sitting at the computer.

I want to second this. This is increasingly becoming an essential item for me.

I would like to have something to put real notes in about the computer that I'm working on, future tasks, current state, or who it belongs to (this can change frequently at a few of my client companies). To expand on this further, it would be even better if this information could optionally be displayed in a column of the details view in the Viewer, and optionally included in the reports from Inventory Manager.
