Note: No other problems were experienced on any of the systems involved. All testing showed the network, software and computers working as expected.
All systems are Dell computers of various ages. I am in no way trashing Dell or Intel equipment both in my are the best!
Problem:
Viewer dropping connecting to hosts after short time frame.
Troubleshooting steps:
Added file and folders exclusions to Windows for anti-virus. (No change)
Scanned all systems for viruses, malware, rootkits, etc. (None reported)
Updated all RU software on all systems in experiencing issues. (No change)
Rebuild System OS without any other software and updated all patches, Windows and drivers. (No change)
Performed full diagnostic testing on all systems – no failures.
Turned off network card power saving functions on all systems. (No change)
Powered down and restarted all involved routers, confirmed routers are not blocking RU including ports.
Uninstalled RU including host file. (No change)
Verified license – was not over limit of units. (Experienced same issues with free license.
Conclusion:
After much research a little-known issue was found in an Intel support document.
The embedded intel network card (Intel Ethernet I217-LM) was using was the problem in conjunction with Microsoft’s 20H2 update.
Solution:
Replaced network card with another brand allowed using Windows default drivers.
This was done on both wired and wifi, wired on desktop and the wifi on laptop.
No farther issues experienced.
