We want to update the Host software from version 7.0.0.1 to 7.1.7.0. We are using the MSI configurator to create an install file with a configuration.

When we run the installer to update the previous installed version, the Remote Utilities Host service is getting uninstalled. But if we first uninstall the old version and then run the installer, the service is installed and everything is working.

How can we update the Host software without uninstalling the old version?

Hello Martin,

Thank you for your message.

This is normal for previous version to be uninstalled during the update process. However, the service should also be automatically reinstalled during the update process. Perhaps, something might be preventing Host from updating correctly. Please try adding the Host installation folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Remote Utilities - Host\ to the exception list of any antivirus software (including Windows Defender) you might have running on the Host machine as described here and see if this helps to resolve the issue.

Let us know if the issue persists.
