Does anyone else have an issue with their address book not updating when using
Google drive or dropbox?

Hello Larry,
Thank you for your post.
May I ask if you are the only user who works with the address book file at a time (from different Viewer machines)? If there are multiple users, a conflict may occur in which case it would be best to use a more advanced address book synchronization available in our self-hosted server.

We haven't been reported any issues with this type of sync yet. But here is what I can recommend you to do:
1. Make sure all your Viewers are the same version, preferably the latest one. As of this post, it's 6.7.0.2. The latest version is always available by this link https://www.remoteutilities.com/download/viewer/
2. Make sure that you completely close/exit one Viewer before you open another Viewer. Otherwise, both Viewers will try to read/write the same file, which may cause conflicts, in theory.
Hope that helps.

If I can cut in here, if I am reading this right Larry, you need to access your various hosts machines from different PC/laptops, and you keep the address book in Google drive / dropbox. This is what I am struggling with now, with no web base log in how can I access my address book from each PC I log in from.
I am just trying this out after being ticked off with [censored] , I only have 3 PC's I access occasionally, mostly mine at Home from my work location. I have my PC, and 2 other PC's I access to help out occasionally, when I am at work I used to login to my PC at home via TV and check emails, or use my pdf progam to create an odd file for work.
I have just installed your viewer and host to my home PC and was wondering how I get on when I am at work to access these PC.
Also is I have to install viewer on the work PC to access home, how to I password protect it from any other staff accessing my address book and viewer

I had to switch to the self hosted server.
I could never solve the sync problem.

Hello Kim,
Thank you for your message.
An easier way would be to use the Portable Viewer as described here.
P.S. Note that we only recommend using this "sharing via Dropbox" scenario if you are the only user. In a multi-user environment the only proper way to go would be to use automatic sync through the server.
