Problem solved.  I was able to extract an image from rutview.exe and create a .ico file and then use that.

Apparently the picture of the error didn't properly attach or display.  Anyway the file in question is in "%SystemRoot% and has a filename about 50 characters or so in length and starts with "RManViewer.exe1_42B36C.............."

At some point, I lost the picture that should be shown on the Remote Viewer icon on my Windows desktop; what I get looks like the one for Notepad.  If I select Properties and "Change Icon", I get a message that a file can't be found :

I can't find anything in my "C:\Program Files (x86)\Remote Utilities - Viewer\" folder that look appropriate.  What should it be?

Site is using Agent.  No problems connecting with Agent v6.10, but of course can no longer do file transfer.  Upgraded site to v7.1.2 and can no longer connect.  Haven't had issues with other sites.

How can I get previous version of Viewer?

Thanks Conrad!  I understand why the incompatibility, and it really isn't a big issue.  I just want to be covered in that emergency situation where I need to send a program update and for whatever reason can't get their host/agent updated.

I recently upgraded my version of Viewer to 7.1.1.0 after being prompted when I opened it up.  Unfortunately, I had to connect with a client who has older version of Host, so it wouldn't allow me to do a File Transfer.  Are prior versions of Viewer downloadable?  I thought I could stick it on another computer I don't use much "just in case" such a situation happens again so I can do what I need to do and worry about upgrading them later.

On a related note, is there an easy way to get and install latest version of Agent?

Didn't find that setting, but did uninstall and install what may be a newer version, and it now works.  I've used RU for a bunch of years now, but that was the first time I'd every run across that error message!

Polina,
Where do I find the Connection Properties->Authentication Tab?

When I select Host Settings->Security I get a screen that has a choice of Remote Utilities Security or WinNT Security.  Nothing about the Authentication Method.

Thanks!

I've got to say, so far I'm really liking Remote Utilities (and I've used gotomypc and  [censored] for years). Still figuring out a few things, but that's normal.

I use the Viewer from my laptop to connect to several Hosts.  I'm a little leery of saving the Password for each Host (especially to my desktop back in my office) just in case my laptop is lost/stolen.  Of course, this means I have to remember a bunch of passwords.

Is there a way to password protect the Address book?  This would allow me to only have to remember 1 password and I'd feel more comfortable knowing I could save my client's passwords but they would be safe.
