Ahh, that was the issue. I was concerned\confused that I had a different password on the host running on the PC and thought it was taking the installed hosts settings and using them for the MSI configurator I was trying to build. The Single password option is disabled if you enable "Automatically generate Host password" checkbox in Step 3.
Thanks!

Hi Conrad,
I am trying to create a new 1-Click host installer using the on-line MSI configurator. I selected Pre-configure general\network and security settings for the host and it brings up the host settings dialogue. Under security authorization, the 'Single Password' option is disabled..?
I have the RUT host installed on the PC used to run the MSI configurator but the host is stopped.
It looks to me as if there is some conflict between installed host settings and attempting to set settings for a 1-Click host install?
Thanks,
Mike

Hi Conrad,
It used to be that to run the MSI Configurator, you had to uninstall the host from the PC you were using to build the MSI. Is this still true for the online configurator option?
Thanks,
Mike

Hi Conrad,
Thanks for the quick response and Happy New Year!
Yes, that is the correct address. What has changed? Anything else I need to do at this end to ensure continued operation?
Thanks,
Mike

Hi Conrad,
I've tried to upgrade our paid V6 licence to whatever it is now but it is rejected? Licence key looks like this RUT-H-817861D056fd66C... it is for 2 techs, unlimited hosts. The reason I am needing a ticket is we can't seem to whitelist our email address for the RUT install email.
Thanks,
Mike Gottschling

I've got an issue whereby I try to update a remote host via a clean MSI host installer and I get the following error:
***** Start of log *****No idea why it no longer works. our other licensed user has no problem updating any remote host. Currently on viewer 6.3.0.2 trying to push out a 6.2.0.1 MSI.
Data: 13/10/2015 16:45:07
Action: install/upgrade.
Checking files of the RUT Host.

I don't see some popup windows on host and often can't copy and paste from viewer to host

Hi Conrad,
Just to add another data point, clipboard copy of straight text (url links, usernames, passwords, etc) seems to have gotten less reliable in 6.2.x ->. Previously, you could reliably expect a copy of short, plain text at either end would automatically appear at the other end without using the menu Get/Set actions. Now I almost always have to use the Get/Set menu action.
Unrelated but another issue: Please promote the 'Ctrl-Alt-Del' menu item back to the main bar as it was in 5.x. It is one of the most used functions and it's a bit silly to have to now dive into a menu to get at it.
Thanks,
Mike

Oh yes, faster please! This is our biggest non-technical issue with RUT. Trying to explain to a customer that the host or agent we are trying to get them to install is safe (in the face of more and more 'warning' prompts) is tedious and sometimes challenging.Conrad Sallian wrote:

No ETA for that , unfortunately.
Could you not embed the digital signature into the RUT licence key?

Hi Conrad,
We are going to be upgrading our hosts from 5.6.0.5 to the latest 6.x and have some questions. We have obtained a version 6 licence key (Helpdesk) from our v5.x key as per your email. We will be creating our own v6.x MSI installer and Agent (with embedded generated Meta Key) and are planning on running our own GMS (current hosts all using your GMS).
Questions:
-If we upgrade our 2 viewer installations to version 6, can we still connect to all our existing v5 hosts while they have not been upgraded yet? Do we have to upgrade only 1 viewer and migrate the hosts to v6?
-Are there any issues migrating v5 to v6 hosts AND changing to our own GMS? Can we do this all at once or better in stages?
All of our host sites are remote to us. We usually do have the ability to make a direct connection via IP (port forwarding on routers) but would prefer to use the existing Internet-ID based connections to perform the upgrade (too many).
So is the basic plan for us to:
-Bring up our new local GMS
-Install v6 viewers to replace existing v5 viewers
-Build our new MSI installer and Agent (that points to our GMS)
-Upgrade hosts via v6 viewer
Thanks for your continued help!
