First thing that you need to eliminate for me is the firewall. Have you tried turning it off at both sides and see if it makes a difference?

Hmmm. Do you just want to hide the icon at system tray? I think you can just tweak the Windows registry for this.

I've tested this myself and indeed, it is working as it should be.
