Hello Support,

Is there a way to import all host from AD to the General Address book? or do we have to do it one by one? Also, is there a way to keep Address Books sync between agents with out installing the RU server? Thanks!!

Hello Ricardo,

Thank you for your message.

Is there a way to import all host from AD to the General Address book?

Yes,  you can bulk-add AD records to the General Address book by right-clicking on a computer in an active directory folder in the Viewer and selecting Add all computers as records in the drop-down menu:

Also, is there a way to keep Address Books sync between agents with out installing the RU server?

It depends on how many users are going to work with the software. For example, if you are the only user who uses the software on a few machines, then you can get the address book updated automatically through a shared resource, such as a Dropbox or OneDrive folder. Here's a guide on sharing address book via Dropbox.
However, if there are multiple users, a conflict may occur in which case it would be best to use a more advanced address book synchronization available in our self-hosted server.

Hope that helps.

Hi Polina,

We currently have 6 agents that will be using the Remote Utilities Tool and honestly something like syncing the Address Book using Dropbox or OneDrive is not going to work. We really do not want to have to install the RU server. Is there really no other way??.

Also, would the Address Book automatically update and add a new PC when is added to AD? or do we have to manually add it?. Thanks for your help.

We recommend using Dropbox or OneDrive option for the Address Book synchronization only if you're the only user. For a multi-user environment, it is recommended to use the sync server instead.
Unfortunately, there's no other way to synchronize the address book between multiple techs' Viewers. Here's a guide on setting up the address book sync: https://www.remoteutilities.com/support/docs/setting-up-sync-server/

Also, would the Address Book automatically update and add a new PC when is added to AD? or do we have to manually add it?.

Yes, if the Viewer PC belongs to the Active Directory network, new AD tree record are fetched automatically. However, you can add additional domain controllers using the Add domain controller dialog as well.

Hope that helps.
