Invalid registration key when registering Remote Utilities
When entering your license key into the License Key Storage you receive the following error: Attention. Invalid registration key.
To resolve the problem, try the solutions below in the order they are listed.
If your key begins with RUT-PRO, RUT-STR, RUT-MIN or RUT-FRE update the Viewer to the most recent version. After you updated the program try registering it with your key.
Make sure that you copy the entire license key including the "RUT-.." part from the order confirmation email. Some email clients such as Outlook may alter formatting of the message. This corrupts the key and makes it unusable. Try copying the key into a plain text editor (e.g. Windows Notepad) first and then copy from the plain text editor into the License Key Storage.
If you still cannot add the key, try resetting the Viewer configuration file as follows:
- Fully exit the Viewer (File → Exit).
C:\Users\[Your_username]\AppData\Roaming\Remote Utilities Files\folder. Note that the AppData folder may be hidden by default in which case you'll need to enable "Hidden files and folders" in Windows Explorer settings.
- In the folder above locate the file
config_4.xmland delete it.
- Run the Viewer and try registering it with your license key again.
