RU Server Migration – Users and Groups for Authentication

Hello,
I am currently in the process of migrating my RU server to a different Windows installation, but I do not understand how to cleanly transfer the users and groups so that the custom authentication continues to work.
I would like to migrate my groups and technician users while ensuring the passwords remain exactly the same.
I have enabled "Custom Authentication" on my clients' hosts and now need to migrate the users and groups to my new RU installation without encountering "Authentication Error" messages. I am not sure if certificate issues might be the cause.
The server address for the clients isn't actually changing, as the domain and port remain the same; only the backend server on my end is changing. The incoming port is simply being forwarded to the new server.
How can I cleanly migrate the existing groups and technician users so that authentication works properly with the new RU server installation?
I have the Pro license.
This is urgent.
Many thanks!
Best regards,
Leon

Hi Leon,
Thank you for your message.
You can migrate the entire server, including its user accounts and other settings, to another computer as described in this article:
https://www.remoteutilities.com/support/kb/how-do-i-migrate-ru-server-self-hosted-server-to-another-pc/
If you are not changing the address, you can skip the “Update server address in Viewer” section. Your address should continue pointing to the new server machine after the migration.
I recommend that you do not wipe the server from the old machine right away. First, migrate the files and settings as described in the article, make sure everything works correctly with the new server, and only then clean up the old server machine.
Hope that helps.
