How upgrades work

A Remote Utilities license is a one-time payment, not a subscription. You can use the major version you bought for as long as you like. Here is what happens when new versions come out.

Version 9 is still 50% off. The discount applies to whichever version you upgrade to; the versions you skipped cost nothing.
Your license key works with every minor version. A new major version needs an upgraded key, which you order with the Upgrade Form before installing the new version.
Free license: minor updates are free as well, and each major version needs a new free key. There is no paid upgrade path for free licenses.

Adding users and controlled devices

When adding concurrent users or controlled devices (or both), you only pay the price difference. The number of controlled devices comes with the license type, so moving from STARTER to PLUS or from PLUS to PRO raises it.

How the upgrade cost is calculated
Upgrade cost = target license cost − current license cost
The target license is the one you are upgrading to; the current license is the one you own.

Controlled devices go from 20 to 50; concurrent users stay at 3.

Per-user prices depend on the number of users in the license, so the target and current licenses in the examples are priced at different per-user rates.
