Two-factor authentication (2FA) not working

Symptoms

You cannot logon to Host using a one-time password from the mobile authenticator app. Viewer says that the one-time password (2FA code) is incorrect.

Solutions

Make sure the phone with the authenticator app and the Host PC both synchronize their time from an online source. Double check if the Windows Time Service (w32tm) is set up correctly on the Host machine.

Also, this problem might occur if a wrong token is stored on the remote PC. Follow these steps:

  1. Open the Windows Run dialog, type in regedit.exe to open the Windows registry editor.
  2. Locate the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Usoris\Remote Utilities Host\Host\Parameters and delete it.
  3. Reinstall Host.
