Just tried Google DNS + flushdns = no change. Still no connection to host (other than knowing it is still online)

Thanks - flushdns did not make any difference but I will try again tomorrow.

I have always used OpenDNS - any known problems with that since the RU changes?

OpenDNS primary 208.67.222.222 secondary 208.67.220.220

James - from memory (this was a few months ago) all I did on site, whilst on the same LAN, was to enter the IP address of the PC running the RU host into the properties of the host object in the viewer: right-click and choose properties > general (settings).

I think it is worth making the point that in my case communications must be happening between my RU viewer and the remote RU host because the RU viewer can see that the RU host is online; but nothing more.  In other words there's a handshake but no meeting!

James - I can also use the software OK when on the same IP scope on the local LAN - when the RU changes came in I couldn't connect to a machine only a few feet away (RU was useful in an office situation respecting local laws re Covid social-distancing in the UK during the pandemic) and got around that by not using the Internet ID to connect but by finding and using the host machine's local IP address.  Quite whether that misses out RU's connection servers altogether I have no idea but it worked :)

What I find really odd about this problem is that there are clearly a lot of RU users who are having difficulties and yet RU continues to talk exclusively about third-parties rather than address the changes that they made, which seem to be the root cause of this situation.  From my standpoint if this matter is basically about money and paying for the software, I do not have a problem with that, provided the fee being asked for is reasonable for people like myself who support only one or two remote users.  Right now I would gladly pay a modest fee if I could roll back to the RU host and viewer as they were before they were changed some months ago.  I believe RU is a good company; their support staff are certainly responsive; far more so than many tech companies; I just wish they would provide a proper answer to this current situation whether by changing the license model, rolling back to a previous version or whatever - I just want RU to work well like it used to do and to not 'drown' in the process whilst trying different 'solutions' which are clearly not fixing the root cause. Please RU?

There clearly is a problem here; I think misuse of the word "issue" is half the problem!!

The most frustrating thing is that this software used to work really well and now it has become next to useless :(

Same here.  Host updated.  Viewer on v 7.1.2.0 and showing remote computer online but will not connect.  Really annoying!!
