Indeed it is due to AHK.  If I copy locally an email address that includes the @ character, I can paste it remotely with RU.
However, If I use AHK to remotely expand that same email address, the @ becomes a 2.  Same with other special characters.

I'll have to ask the AHK people how to fix this.

Years later the problem persists  I'm on 7.2.2.0 on all machines.  Upper case does not convey when pasting the clipboard.

The digital map occupies the entire screen and cannot be minimized or moved out of the way.
Can you at least make it a normal window and allow us to Escape out of it when it is stuck?

When logging into a remote machine, the digital world map hogs the entire screen and cannot be minimized.  Please removed this annoying "feature" and replace it with a simple message like "Connecting to...".

I updated to 7003 but it behaves the same.  Two of the F12 modes make everything too small to read, but easier to navigate,and the other two make it large enough to read but awkward to navigate.  Additionally, the "hot zone" for the mouse to scroll is an invisible rectangle in the middle of the screen.  One has to fully scroll in any one direction inside the hot zone before the cursor is allowed out of the hot zone to access other screen areas.  That in particular is very annoying as it makes it awkward to go between different windows that span an area larger than the hot zone.

One of RU's main competitors has the ability to set a "screen resolution", which works something like a more fine-grained version of RU's F12 option. I have no idea how they implement it, but it makes a big difference in usability.  In my case RU's F12 switches between being too big to navigate usefully but easier to read, and too small to read.

In the "too big" mode, it would really be useful if RU had the option to easily switch between Advance Mouse Scroll and no AMS by a key like Ctrl while mousing.  I.e., Ctrl-mouse move would be AMS, and regular mouse move would be no-AMS.  That would provide both features allowing quicker navigation in the "too big" mode.

A possibly related issue:
I use autohotkeys (AHK, a replacement for the venerable AllChars) to expand short strings into longer ones, like say an email address:

]jg  => Joseph.Something@gmail.com

AHK is extremely useful in that it can do a lot more than this simple example, so I use it a lot.
For example, to enter date and time I use ]dt which expands to 4/2/2020 2:47 PM.

However, when remoting in with RU, it does not transmit the upper case or shift, so that the email example becomes
joseph.something2gmail.com

While an email address is not case-sensitive, the @ becomes 2 (the lower case for that key), which makes it unusable.
The date & time in RU expands to 4/2/2020 2;49 PM which is also incorrect.

If I remote from the same laptop to the same host machine via other remote software like UVNC,  [censored] , or RDP, this does not happen. The string expansions happen correctly. In fact, I can simultaneously remote into the host machine via RU, UVNC, and [censored] , to try the expansions into the same program like Notepad, and the problem only happens with RU.
I have tried the RU settings for Scan code and Unicode, and they make no difference.
Any ideas?

Actually, problem not quite solved yet.  With the above suggestions I can see the mapped drives, but attempting to drill down a drive's folders inevitably pops up the "unable to open this directory" message.  It does drill down one or two levels before the message pops up, but once the message is displayed it goes back up to the root.  Odd.
