Hello, I've some PC (two in the garage more a VPS, etc.)
Actually I use windows RDP and it works well.
I've added a laptop with Windows 7 Home that don't support RDP server.
So I've decided to try Remote Utilities for all my pc.
After some days of testing I dont find any setting that resamble the same function of Windows RDP.
Here the requests :
- login to server using Windows user name and password
- create a new Window session, console (the option in rdp file : 'administrative session:i:1')
I use settings on the server :
- use "WinNT security" settings all permissions to the user (with administrative privileges)
On client :
- save password
- auto logon
- send user name
The connection is in my private LAN and don't use internet.
What happens is that the viewer at login prompt for username and password, without giving the option to save the password (like instead do Windows RDP).
When host restart the autologon is refused fr om remote host.
So I must click on "Logon" option in the option menu of connection, then I get the little logon prompt with Windows remote server username and password (the username is saved ...).
After that if I double click on the connection, it connects to host and I see the Windows login screen where I must retype the password in order to access desktop!
The question is, has a so big cost to create a new session at login, when using WinNT login data, also it's a so big lack in security to store remote password locally?
In other words, if Windows RDP is a feature limited connection, why Remote Utilities offer less functionalities about Windows login?
