Windows Defender detects Adware.W32/Unwaders.C!ml in rutview.exe of the new beta.

What's up with that? False positive I assume?

Hi Marco,

Yes, absolutely. It is a false positive. We will contact Microsoft immediately and file a false positive report.

To their credit I should say that of all antivirus software vendors Microsoft is the fastest in responding and eliminating false positive detections. Besides, they have a very friendly and well-though false positive report interface. We encourage everyone having the same problems with RU files to report a false positive at this link https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/wdsi/filesubmission

Another important feature that was added to beta 2. Quoted from release notes:

You can now remotely restart the Agent as administrator (provided you know the credentials) in order to perform the necessary tasks during a remote session, such as installing programs and interacting with UAC prompts.

This feature has been long awaited by many. Feel free to test it out and let us know if it works for you as expected.

Thanks!

I've been having RU Viewer beta 1 throwing runtime exceptions as of late, when connected to 6.8 hosts.
But now that's beta 2 is out, I'll wait a few days to see if this issue persist with.

BTW, any plans to release UNIX(Linux) version of RU server?

b2 EAV'd as well. Report sent.

BTW, this happened while trying to login to the system in a domain, whose controller is offline, if that matters.

You should update the Hosts too. There were significant changes in the authorization system in version 6.9 as compared with 6.8.

We have this on our wish list.

Not sure if that is the cause but if you can reproduce this 100% of time please let us know. However, please make sure that Viewer and Host are the same version, otherwise testing won't make sense.

Thanks.

That's
a) Not my call, the remote systems aren't mine;
b) Even if it is, I'm not installing beta software on production systems;
c) It totally makes sense. I've been having main gripes with client and I'm testing client.

Do you seriously expect that your viewer will be only used with same version host? Don't make that mistake. Viewer should be as much backward compatible as reasonable possible.
Moreover, program should not crash on expected input. And login failure IS THE expected input.

if you can reproduce this 100% of time please let us know.

It seems, this is 100% reproducible.
The moment I take DC offline, attemts to login to the system end in

It probably worth some additional notes.
1. Local system is not a member of any domain.
2. I'm connecting to the remote network via VPN using domain login in the current remote domain.
3. The machine in the remote network that is causing issue is a member of a different (new) domain.
4. The short names of the two domains are same. Don't ask why, this is what I have to deal with.
5. RU Host is configured to accept NT authentication, allowing local Administrators group and  a dedicated domain group to connect.
