Remote administration tools

Remote Utilities has a powerful remote administration toolset. You can view the remote screen, control its mouse and cursor, send keystrokes, get direct access to the command line, access power control options or execute files and applications with various parameters. The program is ideal for administering local networks with hundreds or even thousands of PCs.

Communication modes

When you need to talk to a person sitting at a remote PC or send him/her a message, choose one of the communication modes available in Remote Utilities. You can also connect to the web camera of the remote computer and watch and listen to what happens on the other side in real time.

Remote Utilities offers the following options to get you through even the strictest network environments:

Firewall bypass
  • Firewall bypass. Connect to a remote PC located behind a firewall using an ID and password.
  • Proxy server support. If your corporate network uses a proxy server, enter the proxy server address, port and other data into Remote Utilities.
  • Callback connection. If only the viewer side has an external IP address, you can make the remote side 'call back' the viewer at regular intervals. This makes the remote connection possible even when the remote workstation is not directly accessible at its IP address.
Quick Connect

Quick Connect is a lightweight host module remote users can run without installation and administrative privileges.

MSI Configurator

It does not matter which license or how many of them you buy - the MSI package is provided without any restrictions. You can modify the file using the built-in MSI configurator before deployment in your network.

Remote Install

Remote Utilities provides a built-in remote install and update tool. You can install the RUT-Server or update existing installations remotely from a Viewer PC. In a Windows domain network you can also use Active Directory group policies for remote deployment.

Connection Properties

You don't have to adjust the color depth, screen mode or other options every time you start a session. Remote Utilities stores the connection properties for every remote computer individually. You can also mass-change the properties or set default connection properties for new address book entries.

Remote Utilities Portable

The RUT-Viewer Portable is available for free without any restrictions. You can load it onto your USB stick and work from an Internet cafe, a friend's computer or any other place.

Terminal Sessions Support

If there are multiple terminal sessions open on the remote computer - for example, the local session and several RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol) sessions - you can connect to any one of them with Remote Utilities.

If you are computer-savvy and know what an IP address is, you can use the good old direct IP to IP connection. The shortest path between point A and point B is a straight line. A direct connection, therefore, is always preferable to a mediated one.

Remote Utilities Viewer

Remote Utilities Viewer (the client) is absolutely free. You can install it on an unlimited number of workstations from which you can run remote sessions.

You can start an unlimited number of concurrent sessions from one client workstation. There are no limits to the combinations of remote computers and connection modes. You can work in a tabbed interface similar to a web browser, and open different remote desktops in different tabs.

Active directory integration

This option is available in RUT-Server settings, and when enabled it shows the remote user a message asking them to accept or reject the incoming remote connection.

Active directory integration

Remote Utilities supports integration with Active Directory. You can import AD tree into the RUT-Viewer address book and then log into RUT-Servers (remote hosts) using AD accounts.

Multiple user accounts

Starting at version 5.2 Remote Utilities supports multiple user accounts available for a single RUT-Server (remote host) installation. The user accounts can have different access rights (permissions). For example, you may want to create an administrator account that can connect in all connection modes as well as a number of restricted accounts. Each account will have its own login and password.

Customization of Quick Connect

Integrate your logo, a welcome message and custom colors into the Quick Connect module. Every time your customers request remote support using the Quick Connect, they will see your brand name in the program window. You can also configure the Quick Connect so your customers won't even have to send their access credentials - the program will automatically send them to your email in an encrypted form.

  • Inventory Manager. You can use the inventory manager to view and collect detailed information about hardware and software on remote computers.
  • Remote Registry. Access the remote machine's registry directly through an interface similar to the well-known regedit.exe Windows tool.
  • Screen Recorder. This mode allows the administrator to schedule screen captures on a remote PC at regular intervals and save them to a protected file. The file can be viewed later using a special player.
Gateway Mediation Server

The free Gateway Mediation Server fully replicates our global mediation servers that enable firewall bypass for Remote Utilities. You can install the GMS locally on your premises; there are no specific hardware requirements. You will therefore be absolutely independent from our global servers, though you can use them for as long as you want. (Note: the GMS works with an Enterprise license only).

NTLM is a suite of authentication and session security protocols used in various Microsoft network protocol implementations. NTLM authentication is widely used on Windows networks worldwide.

RUT-Server tray icon

The blue RUT-Server tray icon is visible in the system tray of a remote PC and turns red when someone connects to that remote PC. You can hide the icon in the RUT-Server settings; however, Remote Utilities will still be visible as a running process in the Windows Task Manager.

Settings protection

Protect RUT-Server settings with a password so that a remote user cannot change them.

One Internet ID channel allows you to use the firewall bypass connection from one workstation at a time (it does not matter which one).

The Free license of Remote Utilities is for personal use only. A remote computer you are accessing with the Free license must belong to you or your friends or relatives. You cannot use the Free license to access computers that belong to a business entity, non-profit organization, educational or government institution. Also, you cannot use the Free license for connecting to home users to provide paid helpdesk support. The Enterprise license can be used for these applications.
