Hello:

Our three computers at a remote location went offline and we have checked all the
infrastructure. All that remains is connectivity through your servers.
These have been installed for several years and have not had updates to the RU software.
So I suspect that they should be updated.  Unfortunately this has to be
done on-site which is a problem...

However, If that fixes it, then I wonder- are the servers supposed to be backward
compatible or are there times when updates MUST be done in order for them to
communicate through the servers to the world...?

The problem is not the software version or your servers its
still something else on these machines because they can't get to
the DNS server.  Why this is all of a sudden I don't know yet.

My prior question still stands just from an interest angle...
thanks
DC
Douglas,

Check if RU has been flagged by AV.  I've seen another wave of older RU hosts being removed.  Just received a message today from a client of mine that their systems are showing an error about "cannot find rfusclient.exe" on startup.
Hello Douglas,

Thank you for your message.

Could you please try adding your Host installation folders to the exception list of any antivirus/firewall software you might have running in your environment following this guide and see if this might help to resolve the issue.
In addition, we do recommend that you update your Hosts to the most recent version 7.6.2.0. We do provide backward compatibility as much as possible, but sometimes a/v software might mistakenly flag older versions of the software, like Martin pointed in his message above.

Let us know if this helps.

Thank you  folks for ideas.
As I mentioned, we discovered a definite underlying comcast connection problem so I don't think its RU. But after we resolve that, if we still are not getting RU through, I'll have these ideas to consider

Thanks very much again,
DC
