It would be nice if you could drag and drop an icon from the remote screen to your desktop, It would make the program a little more user friendly.

Hi Weston,

Why, Remote Utilities already provides drag'n'drop.

What is the version you are referring to? Is it the Beta or the stable one?

Hi Conrad,

Viewer: Win7x64_sp1 / 5.5 beta 1
Host: Server2008R2 / 5.5 beta 1

Drag and drop works only with text content, documents/files are not copied.
Am I doing anything wrong or is this not supported?

best regards

Stephan

Could you please be more specific and let us know what you mean by "text content" vs. "dcuments/files" here?

You are trying to drag some file (say, .DOC, or .XLS, or .TXT) from remote desktop onto the local desktop, correct? Or are you trying to do anything else?

OK, we'll test it once again here on the configuration that you listed. Thanks!

Stephan,

We tested the file drag'n'drop on those configurations/OSes - everything works.

On the remote PC do you run the Host or the Agent? That might make the difference.

Hello Conrad,

I could now test the drag and dr op   function successfully. The mistake was up to me, I didn’t press the button long enough to drag and drop. After 2-3 seconds pushing the button drag and drop works.
Alternatively, I tried then copy and paste which also did not work.
Is it possible to implement a "copy and paste" function in later versions?
I've been working with the software since 5 days (with version 5.5 Beta 1 + GSM 1.3 V).
My system:
34 x host server with Internet ID self hosted over GSM = 8 x 2003 R2, 25 x Server 2008 R2, 1 x SBS 2008 (all permanent 24/7 access.)
2 x viewer

Conclusion:
Remote Utilities runs continuously stable. No problems  :) .

Is it possible to buy a discounted version for schools / non-profit Organisation?

regards

Yes, it is advised to hold the button pressed for a while to let the program do the drag-n-drop.

This is a complex question. Currently there's automatic clipboard sync but only for simple text. As for files transfer, this copy/paste command would actually duplicate what is already available in the File Transfer mode (you an create directory shortcuts there, btw). But we'll think over your suggestion anyway. Thank you!
