hello,
host and client run latest 7.6.2.0
after updating to windows 11 2H42, RU host will not run.
I was remotely updating a machine and after windows update rebooted, RU host would not run.
very painful to loose remote acess to a machine i was working on
so, maybe this was one time nightmare. i need to udpate many machines remotely.
today, i needed to do another updated, so i installed [censored] before running windows update.
again, RU host will not run. but i can still remote in using [censored] .
from some reason, cannot upload the screenshot.
here is the screenshot from [censored] , showing RU host service cannot be started.
damn, cannot upload screenshot, cannot upload any image. getting stuck a 90%.

Perhaps you meant 24H2?

Could you tell us if you can still run Host manually (by running the Start Host command from the Windows menu)? Or are the Host files corrupted / deleted - perhaps because of Windows defender's false positive detection.

just tried, starting manually that worked, but i had to do that by remoting in using [censored] .Conrad Sallian wrote:

It would really help if you take a look at Windows Defender log (or whatever antivirus sofware is installed) on the remote machine with Host installed.
As a rule if the Host won't start it's almost always the activity of the so-called "security" software.

that does not really make sense, if windows defender quarantined it, i would have to whitelist it.Conrad Sallian wrote:

and starting the host from manually would not work.
but anyway, i checked the protection logs, and found nothing. and RU was not quarantined.

i have a dozen machines to update. so i guess i will have to install [censored] and then have to manually start RU again.
but really, that is a not a solution.

Until we figure out the issue and manage to reproduce it, please do not update Hosts on the remote machines with the said Windows update installed.
Thank you.
Thank you.
