How do I configure ZoneAlarm Free to work with RUT?

After you have installed the RUT-Host, ZoneAlarm will ask you if you allow the program to accept connections. Select the Remember this setting check box and click Allow.

ZoneAlarm Client Protection

By default, ZoneAlarm disables remote access to ZoneAlarm Control Center. This results in ZoneAlarm windows becoming inaccessible remotely via RUT or other remote control program. To enable remote access to ZoneAlarm settings, follow these steps:

1. Right-click the ZA icon in the system tray, and click Show ZoneAlarm Control Center. You must do that being physically at the remote PC.
2. Select the Overview -> Preferences tab in the left pane.
3. In the right pane, clear the Protect the ZoneAlarm client check box.

Please, be advised that allowing remote access to your ZoneAlarm firewall settings can be potentially risky. We recommend doing so only if you need to change ZoneAlarm settings from a remote PC on a regular basis.
