How to install Remote Utilities?
You are here:
Standard installation
To install Remote Utilities:
- Download and unpack the Free or Enterprise edition self-extracting archive. The archive contains two installer files.
- Run the file rut.viewer5.2en.msi on the local computer, from which you are going to control other computers using Remote Utilities, and follow the on-screen instructions.
- Run the file rut.host5.2en.msi on each remote PC you want to control, and follow the on-screen installation instructions.
During installation, the RUT-Host automatically integrates with the standard Windows XP/2003/Vista/7 firewall. However, if the firewall was disabled prior to the RUT-Host installation and re-enabled aftewards, you'll need to manually add the RUT-Host TCP port 5650 to the exception list. You will also be asked to create an access password after the installation.
Advanced installation
Remote Utilities has built-in remote deployment capabilities for the mass installation or update/upgrade across the network. Refer to the Installation -> Advanced Installation section of the Remote Utilities CHM Help for details.
