Connection modes

In Remote Utilities a connection mode is a way to perform a specific task on a remote PC during a remote session. The program has many different connection modes, each suitable for a different purpose.

All the available modes are listed below:

Full control remote PC Full Control. This mode allows you to view a remote PC screen in the Viewer window, send keystrokes, control the mouse pointer, and even drag files and folders onto the remote screen. You can also use this mode to capture sound, such as music played on the remote computer, from the remote PC.
View only mode View Only. This mode allows you to view only the remote PC screen, without controlling the mouse or sending key strokes. Depending on the screen resolution, the remote screen in both ‘Full control’ and ‘View only’ modes can be viewed as normal, full-screened, or stretched, with different image color qualities (color depth).
File transfer File transfer. Copy or move files and folders between a remote PC and a local PC, bookmark frequently used directories, and execute remote files in a two-pane file manager window. Drag’n’drop and file download resumption are also supported.
Remote task managerRemote Task Manager. The Remote Task Manager mode makes remote administration easier by giving you direct access to remote processes, windows, and services.
TerminalTerminal. This mode works like the Windows cmd.exe tool and provides access to the command line of a remote machine.
Remote cameraRemote Camera. Capture video and audio from a web camera connected to a remote PC. You can also record a video to a file on a local PC.
Inventory ManagerInventory Manager. You can use the inventory manager to view and collect detailed information about hardware and software on remote computers.
RDPRDP. Start a remote desktop connection using the Remote Desktop Protocol and technology from the Microsoft Corporation without needing to have the RUT-Server installed on a remote computer for this mode to work.
Text chatText Chat. This mode is very handy when providing remote support to someone sitting at a remote PC. The text chat window interface is similar to that of modern instant messenger programs, such as AOL or MSN IM.
Power control Power control. Shut down, restart, put to sleep, hybernate or lock a remote PC and terminate a remote session. You can also switch the remote display on and off.
Remote registryRemote Registry. Access the remote machine’s registry directly through an interface like the well-known regedit.exe Windows tool.
Screen recorderScreen Recorder. This mode allows the administrator to schedule taking screenshots on a remote PC at regular intervals and saves them to a protected file. The file can be viewed later using a special player.
Remote executeRemote Execute. Open a document or run an application on the remote computer. Hidden mode and 'run as..' command are also available.
Send messageSend Message. Send a simple text message to the remote PC. The message will instantly be shown on the remote screen.
Voice and video chatVoice and Video Chat. Start a voice and video chat session with the user sitting at the remote PC. Optimized for slow networks.
