Monitoring

Remote Utilities can also be used for monitoring. As an administrator you can monitor in real time what is happening on the remote PC or have the program take screenshots at regular intervals. You can also connect to a remote webcam attached to a remote PC and see what is happening in the room where that PC is located.

Remote Webcam

The "Remote webcam" connection mode allows you to capture video and sound from a web camera attached to a remote PC and transmit data to a local (Viewer) PC. You can watch a live broadcast from your remote web camera and hear the sound captured by the remote microphone. You can also save the captured video to a video file for viewing later.

When you initiate a remote webcam connection mode you will see the following window:

Remote Webcam

The toolbar offers you several options for this connection mode. For example, you can enable/disable video or sound capturing or start/stop recording the video onto a file. By clicking on the Stretch button, you can stretch the screen or switch back to a non-stretched 1:1 view.

The Remote webcam and Microphone buttons have dropdown menus where you can select a specific device attached to the remote PC. This comes in handy when there are several multimedia devices. For instance, you can switch between a built-in camera microphone and a stand-alone microphone connected directly to the remote PC.

With the "Remote Webcam" mode you can turn your remote PC with webcam into a video surveillance system. You don´t need a static or even a public IP address and can use the easily configurable Internet ID connection.

Hide Tray Icon

There may be circumstances when you need to hide the icon of the Host in the system tray of the remote PC. This icon is visible by default and it turns red when a remote session is active. This color change notifies the user sitting at the remote PC that a remote connection to their PC has been initiated.

Screen Recorder

In the "Screen Recorder" connection mode you can set up a schedule for taking screenshots of the remote PC screen at regular intervals. Such monitoring happens on the remote PC completely independently of the local PC. That is, you can set up a schedule to start the screenshot taking process and then disconnect. The process will continue according to the schedule and screenshots will be captured and saved at the intervals specified.

Screen Recorder options

For example, you can set up the Screen Recorder to capture a screenshot every 2 minutes on business days from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The screenshots are saved to a file which is viewable in a special player. It is also possible to protect the storage file against deletion on the Host. By reviewing the screenshots you will get an idea of what was happening on the remote PC screen during that period.
